T5 Aquarium Lighting: A Good Way to Brighten your Aquarium

When buying an aquarium, it is very important that you must also buy lighting for your aquarium. Aquarium lighting is one of the most essential aquarium accessories. It helps keep the plants, organisms and inhabitants of your aquarium healthy.

When you buy lights for your aquarium, make sure that you purchase T5 aquarium lightings. T5 aquarium lighting is different from the lightings that are commonly used. T5 aquarium lightings are thin fluorescent light tubes that are more effective than a normal fluorescent tube. These types of lightings produce a flat kind of light and can penetrate the water of the aquarium. T5 aquarium lightings are mostly installed on the hood of the aquarium. The T5 aquarium lighting is specially designed to stimulate or enhance the growth of aquarium plants.

T5 aquarium lighting have longer life span and are said to be more energy efficient compared to a normal fluorescent tube with the same wattage. T5 lights are ideal for aquariums because the lights that they generate are more powerful, more intense and can penetrate water. Conventional lights can not fully penetrate water and are not suitable for large sized aquariums that are the reason why they are ideal for large aquariums. These types of lighting devices are ideal for aquariums because of the more intense light that they produce. T5 aquarium lighting adds color and vibrant to the aquarium.

There are lots of T5 aquarium lightings available in the market these days. You can find them in pet shops, DIY (Do It Yourself) retailers and even on the internet. Most of the T5 aquarium lights that are available these days are very much versatile. They can be installed in almost all types of fish tanks (large or small) with its controller located outside of the fish tank.

As mentioned earlier, T5 aquarium lights are more energy efficient compared to conventional lighting. The conventional lighting generates considerable amount of heat. You can feel the difference just by placing your hand near the light. Also, the T5 aquarium light does not flicker. Most people do not know that conventional light continuously flickers. The human eye can not detect these constant flickers. However, there are some concerns that these constant pulses may be perceived by the aquatic inhabitants of the aquarium. Although it has no proven effect on them, it is one of the main concerns of most fishkeepers.

These are the reasons main reasons why it is recommended that you use a T5 aquarium lighting rather than a conventional lighting.
