Siberian Husky Dogs

Siberian Husky Dogs

After watching Walt Disney's Snow Dogs, it wasn't a surprise really when pet adoption centers all over United States were filled with incessant phone ringing all about Siberian husky dogs. And who's to blame these prospective owners, when Siberian Husky Dogs are among the most coveted canine breed.

But unbeknownst to most prospective owners, Siberian Husky Dogs require a different palette of responsibilities. Being bred from a different region than most dogs, and being a close relative of wolves, Siberian Husky Dogs could be a problem to first time dog owners whose knowledge about Huskies are next to nonexistent.

Here are some facts regarding Siberian Husky Dogs.

Siberian Husky Dogs originated from the tundra plains of Siberia, and this fact and all the surrounding facts must always be remembered by any husky owner. A tundra environment is harsher than plains and prairie most wild dogs inhabit, and natural selection had hammered certain traits into every Siberian Husky: resilience, speed, stamina and sometimes indolence. Though very hard working and energetic, Siberian Husky Dogs would rest from time to time, resulted from its breed's need to conserve energy. And this could be seen by owners as stubbornness.

Due to scarcity of prey in the artic regions, Siberian Husky Dogs have naturally strong prey drives. Consequently, untrained huskies will instinctively attack and kill prey animals, including household cats, rabbits, and chickens. And matching their speed, they more often than not kill smaller animals with ease.

Siberian Husky Dogs are pack animals. Why they are so welcoming to humans remains a mystery, perhaps it's because the breed had always depended on its human masters for survival. Nomads roaming the tundra of Siberia had made a partnership with Siberian Huskies, the dogs provide hunting prowess, pulling loads where horses would fail and providing warmth by cuddling together in the heart of winter, the humans provide food, survival, and purpose to the dogs.

Fish oil is an important diet to Siberian Husky Dogs, due to their origins as tundra dwellers. Their nails and coats are normally sleek and water resistant, and without fish oil in their diet, these will become brittle and flaky. So that makes Alpo plus a can of sardines on their weekly menu. Protein and fat are other intakes Siberian Husky Dogs should consume by quantity. Siberian Husky Dogs are very energetic and should they move, and they make great company while jogging, biking or hiking.

If you were to name a dog that requires freedom the most, that will only be Siberian Husky Dogs. So now ask yourself, the prospective owner: can you provide enough leashes for Siberian Husky Dogs to run?
