Pet Air Travel: How To Fly With Your Pets

If you can`t bear the thought of leaving your pets at home and want to bring them with you on the airplane, then you are going to want to learn about a few pet air travel tips first, before leaving. The more that you know about pet airplane travel, the better off you are going to be and the easier and more convenient your travels are going to be for you and your pets.

There are a few pet air travel tips in particular that are going to be helpful for you here and which you are going to want to learn more about.

Check With the Airline

The first thing that you are going to do, and one of the best pet air travel tips you will get, is to check with the airline that you are going to be flying with. Not only do you have to make sure that they even allow pets to board at all, but as well you need to get all the other details. You are going to need to make yourself aware of all the different rules and regulations so that you know how to board your pet properly.

Check for limits of pets, types of pets that are allowed on flight, and so on. Carry-on pets may be allowed, but you are going to need to have the proper container for them such as a soft-sided kennel. These need to be small enough that you can stow them beneath the seat or directly in front of you.

Food and Drink

If you are with a pet friendly airline, you will probably not have to worry about food and drink for your pet while you are on the flight but make sure that before you get on the flight that you are going to only give them a light meal and just a bit to drink so that they are hopefully not going to have to go to the bathroom while you are in the air.

This is an important pet air travel tip, and if you are going to be flying for an extended period of time such as four hours or more, then you are going to have to work something else out because they are going to get hungry and thirsty while they are in the air.

Health Insurance

Just as you should for yourself, you are going to want to make sure that you take this pet air travel tip into consideration which is to make sure that you bring your pet`s health insurance information along with you when you go traveling with them. You want to bring their important medical documents and records so that if anything happens and you need them you have them.
